Current VF - Christa Remijnse

Name: Christa Remijnse

Birthday: 31 January 1985

Home Country: The Netherlands

Current Location: Turnberry, A Luxury Collection Resort. Scotland.

Personal\ Educational background: Bachelor in International Hospitality Management, The Hague. I started working for Starwood during my first internship at The Westin Bear Mountain Victoria, Canada and fell in love with the company. I got a part time job when I came back home at The Westin Rotterdam where I worked for 2 years as a Front Desk Agent mostly in the weekends. I’ve completed my final internship at the Sheraton Schiphol Airport Amsterdam in Revenue Management.

Motto\ Favourite Quote: It is nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice. The minute you settle for less then you deserve, you get even less than you settled for.

Interests\ Hobbies: Baking, reading, snowboarding, squash and hanging out in the pub.

Favourite … food, book, actor etc:

Food – Risotto with white truffle oil!!

Book – A book that made a very strong impression on me was a Dutch book: Komt een vrouw bij de dokter. There’s also an English version now (A woman goes to the doctor) and even a movie.

What brought me here: I was working for Starwood for a couple of years and was certain I wanted to work for the company in the future as well. When I learned about Vita Futura I knew that that was exactly right for me as I didn’t know yet in which direction I wanted to go.

Highlights of the program: The program being so flexible and giving you so many opportunities. You get to know all your colleagues by actually working with them and you know all the ins and outs of the hotel!

Fun Key learning of Vita Futura: If you want to get something done you will have to make it happen yourself. It all starts with you!

Aspiration: To become a great leader in the future and to be enthusiastic, challenged and excited by the job I’m doing, every day again!

Other Comments: Do something out of the ordinary in your life every week. Try new things and always ask yourself why not or why shouldn’t I? It brings a lot of good things your way!
